Deyang, to temporarily halt the addition of kitchens for the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) has sparked protests from several kitchen investors or Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG), particularly those in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas. The investors, who claimed to have invested billions of rupiah to build MBG kitchens, visited the BGN office in Jakarta to seek certainty regarding the fate of their investments. They questioned the decision to temporarily halt kitchen expansion, which they believe has prevented the facilities, which have been under construction since the end of last year, from operating. The investors' arrival occurred shortly after Nanik officially took over the BGN leadership and began a comprehensive evaluation of the implementation of the Free Nutritional Meal Program. The evaluation followed the emergence of alleged corruption cases implicating several officials within the National Nutrition Agency. Several investors stated that the SPPG kitchens they built in various remote areas were actually completed and ready for use in December 2025. However, to date, these facilities have not received operational permits or a certainty about when they will begin serving beneficiaries of the MBG program. According to the investors, this uncertainty has the potential to cause significant losses. In addition to construction costs reaching billions of rupiah, they must also cover building maintenance, equipment maintenance, and salaries for the workforce recruited to support the MBG kitchen operations. They hope the government, through the National Land Agency (BGN), will immediately provide certainty regarding the status of the completed kitchens so that their investment is not wasted. On the other hand, BGN emphasized that the temporary suspension of additional kitchen locations was implemented as part of efforts to improve program governance. This step is part of a major evaluation being conducted by the agency's new leadership. Nanik S. Deyang is said to be focusing the evaluation on four main aspects: efficient budget use, reviewing program beneficiary data, preventing potential misappropriation, and increasing transparency in financial management. This policy was implemented to ensure the Free Nutritious Meal Program runs more effectively and accountably amid increasing public scrutiny of the program's budget management, a government priority. During the evaluation process, the National Agency for National Disaster Management (BGN) not only temporarily halted the addition of new kitchens but also reviewed approximately 27,000 kitchens already operating in various regions. The evaluation was conducted to ensure all service units met established operational standards, financial management, and oversight mechanisms. However, this policy raised concerns among investors who had already invested to support the program's implementation in hard-to-reach areas. They believed that the 3T (Underdeveloped, Frontier, and Transmigration) areas should be prioritized because they still face various nutritional challenges and limited access to public services. Therefore, they urged the government to immediately make a decision that provides certainty for the kitchens that have been completed and are ready to operate. The investors hoped that the results of the BGN evaluation would be announced soon to avoid prolonged uncertainty. They also requested a more open communication mechanism between the government and investors so that various issues on the ground can be resolved without hindering the main objectives of the Free Nutritious Meal Program. To date, BGN is still continuing its internal evaluation process regarding the program's implementation.
