On June 28, 2024, a tiny miracle named Abeo entered the world at Woodland Park Zoo. But his journey wasn’t easy—his mother, Akenji, struggled to care for him, and human caregivers stepped in to ensure his survival. With round-the-clock care, Abeo grew stronger, but he needed something more—a gorilla family. That’s when he traveled to the Louisville Zoo, where an experienced mother, Kweli, welcomed him with open arms. Now thriving under Kweli’s love and protection, Abeo is a playful, adventurous young gorilla, surrounded by the family he always needed.
