Visión 7: Despedida a Chávez: Ceremonia con presidentes latinoamericanos

Presidents Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, Evo Morales, and José Mujica, along with Senator Lucía Topolansky, led the honor guard before Hugo Chávez's coffin in the chapel of rest set up in the hall of the Military Academy, which will remain open to the public until Saturday, one day longer than planned. The presidents of Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay issued a statement in which they described the Venezuelan leader as "a great fighter for autonomy on the international stage." A historic massive crowd accompanied the gun carriage as it traveled through Caracas for seven hours. The final resting place of the remains has not yet been announced, but thousands chanted "Chávez to the Pantheon, next to Simón Bolívar!" so that he may rest alongside those of Bolívar. Nicolás Maduro assumes the presidency and will call for elections within thirty days to complete the six-year term that began on January 10.
