A PEÇA MAIS CHIQUE QUE JÁ FIZ COM BARBANTE
Today I'm going to show you how I made this decorative door hanger using only twine, glue, and a few other very simple materials. What I like most about this piece is that it looks much more sophisticated than it actually is. Besides decorating doors and doorknobs, it can also be used on furniture, trays, coffee tables, or even in decorative arrangements with books. And the best part: it's an economical project, easy to personalize, and it can also be a great idea for a gift or even to sell. If you make this piece, tag me on Instagram @penseedecore because I love seeing the versions you create! MATERIALS • 48-ply twine • Cold silicone glue • Masking tape • Ruler • Scissors • Macrame hook (optional) • Decorative pendant, medal, or amulet of your choice (optional) MEASUREMENTS • Base used: book approximately 40 cm • Number of turns: 20 complete turns • Central area for finishing: 20 cm • Distance for marking the center: 10 cm on each side HOW IT WAS MADE I started by using a book as a measure and made 20 complete turns with the twine. Then I removed the twine from the base, tied it tightly at the top, and cut the bottom part to form the fringes. Next, I marked the center of the piece and separated an area of approximately 20 cm for finishing. To make the process easier and improve the twine's grip, I applied masking tape to the entire area before starting to wrap the threads. The finishing touch was done by wrapping the twine itself until it completely covered the tape. For the final touch, I used the hidden macrame knot technique, which leaves a much cleaner and more professional finish. Then I joined the ends to form the top loop of the piece, secured it with masking tape, and again covered the entire area using the same wrapping process. To make the piece even more sophisticated, I added a decorative pendant that I already had at home. But you can use religious medals, amulets, jewelry pieces, or simply leave the piece without any additional detail. After that, it was just a matter of aligning the fringes, adjusting the length, and finishing. Did you like the result?
