The younger son, called the "prodigal," knew his father's love and mercy; he knew he was good and kind. So, coming to his senses, he resolved to go to his father with a contrite heart, willing to be with him even as just another hired servant. But the father, called by the watchmen, saw his son from afar, and knowing he was coming in repentance, was moved with compassion. He didn't wait for his son to arrive, but went out to meet him, threw his arms around his neck weeping, and kissed him with joy. When you understand the Father's love, you know He will move toward you to restore you. The older son and everyone in the house realized that the father's love transcends the son's mistakes. In this way, our greatness doesn't come from how much of a son we are, but from who we are in our Father. So forgive, restore, feed the needy, glorify Jesus, and let the love of God, which surpasses all understanding, fill this country.
