Karol Kątski - Piano Trio Op. 30 (Kwiatkowski et. al.)
Charles de Kontski - Trio fortepianowe 1859? Violin: Robert Kwiatkowski Cello: Błażej Goliński Piano: Dominika Glapiak 0:00 - I. Allegro con moto 8:08 - II. Andante cantabile 15:55 - III. Allegretto Karol Kątski (1815-1867), like his younger brother Antoni, was a child prodigy. Both were educated at the same music school in Warsaw, and both of them performed publicly in Kraków at a young age. Karol was only 7 years old when he first performed alongside his younger brother. He very quickly garnered a reputation befitting amazingly young adepts, and he and his brother toured Europe. Eventually, Karol decided to remain in Paris. In 1836, he set himself up in Paris. Both Kątski brothers would continue touring, but Karol never developed into a composer-performer as his brother had done. Antoni's hundreds of performance compositions far eclipsed Karol's handfuls. Karol's contributions were more communal. He composed a wealth of chamber music to be performed, as was often the case, likely for the musical societies of which he was a member. Although he neither attained the popularity of his brother nor did he make the same landmark contributions to the health of Polish music, he did benefit the culture that nursed him. He was a music teacher, a violinist in the Opéra-Comique, and his ties in the Music Societies of Kraków, Lublin, Munich, and Vienna gave him a voice in the most influential circles in European music.
