HATTUSA, LA CITTA' FORTEZZA DEI RE ITTITI (conferenza del 27.04.2023)

A dark, mysterious, forgotten "people" we call the Hittites... and Hattusa, their most famous city, an archaeological site with important traces that allow us to explore their origins, but with historical questions still unresolved. In school, we learned about them in connection with their warlike relationship with the Egyptians of Ramesses II, but we can certainly say that they were never a people, but rather a group of populations that characterized the territory of Asia Minor. Strangely, the Hittite language is an "Indo-European" language (a term no longer used by archaeologists), yet the "people" does not appear to be Indo-European... (In June 2024, Ankon Cultura visited Hattusa with Leandro Sperduti) Professor Leandro Sperduti is an archaeologist, historian, and topographer of the ancient world; he lives and works in Rome, where he conducts his studies and collaborates with various universities and superintendencies. He has conducted and directed excavations in numerous Italian and foreign locations. [email protected]
