A path that covers about 7.7 km from the forest track of Gaitanejo to the exit on the south wall in the Gorge of the Gaitanes, alternating dirt paths with other wooden literally hung in the void of impressive vertical rocks. The origins of the "Caminito del Rey" go back to the beginning of the 20th century, when it was decided to take advantage of the difference in water level at the entrance and exit of the gorge between the waterfalls of the Gaitanejo and the Chorro to generate electricity. The Hydroelectric Society of the Chorro needed to create an access between these waterfalls to facilitate the transit of maintenance workers, as well as the transport of materials and the performance of surveillance tasks. However, over time, the inhabitants of the region used it as a way to interact with other populations. The children, for example, crossed it in order to go to school. The duration of the route can vary between 3-4 hours, depending on the rhythm and time of pauses to enjoy this fantastic place.
