Warwick Brown, who had dominated the 1978 series, drove a fantastic race in the Belgian Racing Team VDS #111 Lola T332 Chevrolet to win ahead of Larry Perkins, the eventual series winner, in his #12 Kubota (Ansett) Team Elfin MR8 Chevrolet.
