Juan Pablo Amado began his career in stand-up comedy by accident, motivated by the constant suggestions from those around him to try his hand at theater and comedy. Although he had always been interested, it was with stand-up comedy that he was able to make it a reality. In 2015, while working at a company and feeling the pressure of the modern pace of life, he decided to look for an extra activity to break the routine. He discovered a stand-up comedy workshop in Guatemala, the first of its kind in the country, which, in addition to teaching comedy, included public speaking techniques. Three months later, he stepped onto a stage for the first time, feeling nervous, but also discovering his passion for making people laugh. His career took off quickly. In 2016, after completing the course, he began performing with the Guatemala Stand-Up Comedy Collective. In 2017, he was recognized as Breakthrough Comedian at the Central American Comedy Festival in El Salvador and represented Guatemala at the Central American Comedians Summit in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He also participated in the first Stand Up Fest in Guatemala and shared the stage with prominent Latin American comedians such as Fran Hevia, Slobotzky, Juan José Covarrubias, Gon Curiel, Mónica Escobedo, and Franco Escamilla. That same year, he set a record in Guatemala with a two-hour solo show. In 2018, Juan Pablo was part of the 8th edition of the International Stand Up Comedy Festival in Costa Rica, where he shared the stage with more than 40 international comedians. He also became the first Guatemalan to record a stand-up comedy special on YouTube titled "Is Life Beautiful?", which exceeded one hour in length. In 2019, he participated in the Central American Comedy Festival in San Salvador and the Marvin Festival in Mexico City. He was also invited twice consecutively to the Latino Stand Up Festival in Miami, sharing the stage with leading figures in Latin comedy in the U.S. He was also invited again to the International Stand Up Comedy Festival in San José, Costa Rica. The year 2020 marked another milestone in his career when he became the first Guatemalan to present his second special, "¿Para cuándo los hijos?" (When Are We Having Kids?), recorded at El Gran Teatro Lux, one of Guatemala's most iconic cultural venues. He was also the first Guatemalan to participate in the Toronto International Festival in Canada and to perform at Miami Improv. In 2021, he launched his third solo show, "NO ES FÁCIL SER AMADO" (It's Not Easy to Be Loved), which ran for over two years with sold-out performances. He also gave more than 50 private shows and began collaborating with brands on commercials, jingles, and personalized shows. In 2022, his successful performances and brand collaborations continued. He premiered two new shows, "Íntimamente Amado" (Intimately Loved) and "Amados 90s" (Beloved 90s), which were box office hits with sold-out performances. He also worked on projects for shows in Central, North, and South America and was the opening act for four of Franco Escamilla's shows in Guatemala. By 2023, Juan Pablo Amado had established himself as one of the leading figures in stand-up comedy in Guatemala, with three shows that continued to be box office hits. He was also invited back to Miami Improv and made his New York debut in Brooklyn with two sold-out shows.
