Belle D'Vain Northwest Morris dance "The Crown" at The Three Kings Hanley Castle - November 2025

This dance is called The Crown, written by our Squire Jess Lambley to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles Belle D’Vain Ladies Northwest Morris Side Belle D’Vain is a vibrant and dynamic Ladies Northwest Morris side, affectionately known as the ‘girls with the twirls.’ Our name, inspired by the Evesham plum ‘Belle de Louvain,’ reflects our roots and connection with one of the traditional fruits grown in the Vale of Evesham, Worcestershire. Our kit draws from the colours of our namesake (leafy trees bearing fruit with purple skin and yellow flesh), giving us a striking appearance wherever we dance. Our dance style brings energy, precision and sharp movements from a mixture of traditional and contemporary Northwest repertoire, superbly supported by our musicians. We dance Northwest Clog Morris in and around the Vale of Evesham. The side was conceived during the annual beer festival at the Fleece Inn by the wives and daughters of Pebworth Morris men. We dance North West Morris Dances, wearing clogs as worn by the mill workers in the mills of Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cheshire. You may notice that many of our dances are named after locations in these areas: Alderley Edge, Goostrey, New Mills, Colne, Millbrook.
