How I'm Living for FREE in Bulgaria ... and Loving It

Before I find a place to call home in Bulgaria, I’m learning to live simply. In this video, I show you what it’s like to do a Workaway project in the Bulgarian countryside — where I’m staying with Pierre, a fellow expat who’s built a beautiful life here. In exchange for food and accommodation, I help with various DIY tasks around the property. It’s hands-on, peaceful, and deeply rewarding. This slow, intentional way of living gives me time and space to house hunt without pressure. I’m picking up valuable skills (hello, power tools!), learning about life off the grid, and getting insight from people who’ve already made the move. The village is surrounded by wild nature, quiet beauty, and a rhythm that feels very different from my old life. It’s not always easy. But it’s full of meaning.
