Travis, you can have some fun with this too. There is so much to know about Ratt and just how great of a band they were during their heyday. In previous videos, I mentioned that we are going to go decade by decade with these bands, so for Ratt, we are focusing right now on 1981 - 1991. In this 10-year period, Ratt was one of the biggest bands in the world, selling out arenas and stadiums in the US, Europe, and Asia. Oh, and one correction from the Ratt "Dance" video. They were the house band as The Whisky-a-Go-go, not the Roxy. Though I did see them a bunch of times there too. As we will see, 1991 was a watershed moment for a lot of these 'Hair bands,' as this was the year that Nirvana's Nevermind changed music forever. Suddenly, what was once cool, was now a joke in a lot of people's minds. Labels started dropping a lot of these bands, looking for the "next Nirvana" and following the grunge trend. It is so interesting how the musical landscape can change with the release of one album, but that really is what happened. There were other important albums in 1991 as well (for example, we did a couple of songs from The red Hot Chili Peppers' 1991 album Blood, Sugar, Sex Magick), but Nevermind really was the death knell for a lot of hair bands. But you know what? What goes around comes around, and now, these same bands that were ridiculed are now loved and revered because it was just a fun time. Grunge was a fleeting moment in music, and a lot of people thought Grunge was dark and depressing (and it was in some ways), whereas bands like Ratt, Poison, Winger, Dokken, Motley Crue, and so many others were just "fun" if you know what I mean. This song, I want a woman, is one of those "fun" songs. It was a fun time to be alive, and enjoy all of this great music.
