His debut feature *Pizza (2012) was a commercial hit. It was remade in multiple languages, paving the way for Jigarthanda (2014), which won critical acclaim and a National Award for actor Bobby Simha. He followed this with Iraivi (2016), praised for its commentary on gender dynamics, and Mercury (2018), a silent thriller. Subbaraj directed Petta (2019) starring Rajinikanth and produced projects like Penguin*, *Triples*, and *Kallachirippu under his banner Stone Bench Creations. He also contributed to anthology projects like Putham Pudhu Kaalai and Navarasa*, and directed *Jagame Thandhiram (2021) and Mahaan (2022).
