ЗЕМЛЕТРЯСЕНИЕ В ТАШКЕНТЕ - 26 апреля 1966
EARTHQUAKE IN TASHKENT April 26, 1966 Documentary chronicle. Sound has been restored • ЗЕМЛЕТРЯСЕНИЕ В ТАШКЕНТЕ - 26 апреля 1966 !!!!! THANKS FOR DONATIONS - dzen.ru/pivnenko?donate=true On April 26, 1966, a devastating earthquake occurred in Tashkent. Its magnitude was 5.2, and the seismic effect on the earth's surface at the epicenter exceeded 8 points. The rupture of rocks in the focus extended at a depth of 2-3 to 8-9 kilometers under the central quarters of Tashkent. On the outskirts of the city, the seismic effect barely reached 6 points, so it was mainly the center of Tashkent that was destroyed. More than two million square meters of living space were destroyed, over 300 thousand people were left homeless. Over 230 administrative buildings, about 700 commercial facilities, 180 educational institutions, 185 medical and 245 industrial buildings were destroyed during the natural disaster. Although the death toll was small at first, it later increased: hundreds of people died of heart attacks due to the stress they had experienced and in anticipation of aftershocks during the aftershocks. In the first days after the earthquake, aftershocks were accompanied by sharp sounds, dull underground rumbles and thunder. For two years, local residents shuddered from these tremors, and by the end of December 1969, their total number exceeded 1,100. On the day of the earthquake, General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev and the head of the Soviet government Alexei Nikolaevich Kosygin arrived in Tashkent. A meeting was immediately held at which it was decided to throw all efforts into rebuilding the city. All the republics of the USSR volunteered to provide assistance to the affected Tashkent and its residents. But every cloud has a silver lining. It was the Tashkent tragedy that became the impetus for organizing comprehensive research in the USSR aimed at studying the deep structure of seismically dangerous areas. In 1966, the Institute of Seismology was created at the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR on the basis of the Central Seismic Station "Tashkent". The results of the research of the Tashkent earthquake, as well as the Gazli series of earthquakes (which occurred in 1976 in the Bukhara region and destroyed the village of Gazli) became an important stage in world seismology. Possible causes of earthquakes began to be studied in detail, and seismic activity forecasts were made. A fundamentally new methodology for seismic zoning and forecasting major earthquakes was developed. A new direction in geodynamics and seismology appeared - seismogeodynamics. All this served as the basis for the creation of a comprehensive methodology for seismic zoning in 1991-1997, and Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor of Geophysics, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR V. I. Ulomov proposed a seismic geodynamic lineament-domain-focal model (LDF-model) of earthquake focal zones (EOZ zones). It was decided to create not one deterministic map, as was customary to do before, but a set of probabilistic maps of general seismic zoning of the territory of the Russian Federation - OSR-97. In 2016, research was completed to create a new set of maps of general seismic zoning of the territory of the Russian Federation OSR-2016, which should replace the OSR-97 maps, whose service life has come to an end. Thus, the Tashkent tragedy became an important stage in the development of domestic and world seismology. Today, scientists have made great strides in predicting earthquakes and studying their nature, and many amazing discoveries are still ahead.
