In addition to compulsive shopping and gambling addiction, an estimated half a million people in Germany suffer from pornography and sex addiction; this number is rising. Psychoeducation, behavioral therapy, and self-help groups can support conscious thinking. Since addiction involves a metabolic disorder of the archaic reward center and much of it takes place in the client's subconscious, hypnosis can very quickly and effectively activate the necessary resources and reduce cravings through feelings, images, and metaphors.
