Nueva jornada de los Juegos Rionegrinos

RÍO COLORADO — The Barrio Unión gymnasium hosted another day of the Río Negro Games, an event that brought together ten teams and over one hundred children in the Mini Handball school competition. The event, now in its eighth or ninth day of competition this June, drew a large crowd of teachers and families who came to support the athletes. Organizers highlighted the excellent sportsmanship of the young athletes in a discipline characterized by physical contact, emphasizing the absence of conflicts and praising the educational role of the participating schools. The schedule continues this Wednesday with Ringo—an alternative sport—at the municipal gymnasium, followed by Breakdance at School 256, and will conclude on July 6 with track and field at the municipal track. Based on the level of play observed, local authorities have high hopes of securing a large delegation to qualify for the provincial competition in San Carlos de Bariloche. The development of this stage is the result of joint planning that began in March. The response from the school community and the students themselves reaffirmed the enthusiasm this competition has historically generated in the town. Furthermore, the sports agenda will include the local Senior Citizens' tournament this Thursday, starting at 2:00 PM in the same Barrio Unión gymnasium. Coordinated with the Social Development department, the day will feature disciplines such as Newcomb, tejo (a traditional Colombian sport), truco (a card game), and chess. A delegation of approximately 36 people is expected to represent Río Colorado in the zonal tournament scheduled for August 3rd in Luis Beltrán, consolidating a trend of increasing local participation that continues year after year. #RioNegro #MyCity #RioColorado
