A long-term clandestine relationship inevitably brings with it the same two initial chemical stages that a normal couple goes through, which we discussed together in my first essay: the "availability phase" and the "passion phase." But there's an aggravating factor: the transition to the final two phases, the consolidation and maturity of love, is almost impossible. Many psychologists have investigated the various reasons why a person accepts the role of lover and the suffering it entails. Few have the sensitivity to discern a certain suffering even in the betrayer, because it's more comfortable to treat him like a tormentor. In this episode, I'll try to share my opinion.
