This Chinese Carbon Frame is Almost Perfect…
The LightCarbon LCR018-D is an aero-endurance road bike frame with tyre clearance up to 700x38c, in-frame storage, a T47 bottom bracket, fully internal cable routing, and even hidden thru-axles. All for around $950 for the complete frameset. That price almost sounds too good to be true, so I wanted to take a proper look at it. In this video I’ll take a close look at the external paint finishing, internal carbon layup, manufacturing quality, and overall design, including a look inside the frame with an endoscope. I found a small imperfection in the layup, so we’ll talk about what it means structurally and how LightCarbon responded. In this episode, I'll cover: Overview of the LightCarbon LCR018-D frameset Paint quality and external finishing Internal carbon layup inspection Latex mould manufacturing process Frame details: T47 BB, internal routing, in-frame storage Weight and included components The small imperfection I found inside the frame How the manufacturer responded LightCarbon primarily supplies frames to other bike brands, but they also sell frames directly to consumers.
