Sri Lankan Drums - Kandyan Gata Bera - Thiwarna
Since ancient times, about 2500 years ago, Sri Lanka has been using different types of drums. Among all these drums, "Gata Beraya" is used in Kandyan Dancing. The use of drums is in classical literature such as "Pujavaliya", "Thupawansaya" and "Dalada Siritha". Unfortunately, at present, we find only 10 among 33 types of drums, and the rest are known only by their names.
