渓流釣り【餌釣り】エタノールに漬けて保存した川虫で釣ってみた！【実験】

When I was in high school, I read in a magazine about a method of preserving fishing bait by soaking it in shochu (Japanese distilled spirit). It's a traditional method; apparently, for sea fishing, lugworms, sandworms, and krill were soaked in shochu, while for river fishing, small worms and black sand eels were used. So, I decided to experiment to see if it really works. Since simply using the shochu method I read about wouldn't be interesting, I tried soaking river insects in disinfectant ethanol, the kind used for preparing insect specimens. River insects are highly effective bait for stream fishing, but because they're live bait, they don't keep well, and they can be difficult to find depending on the river and season. If river insects can be preserved long-term and still be effective against stream fish, it would be incredibly convenient. I conducted a test fishing in the Tomoe River after a flood.
