Inmate reveals ‘gross’ conditions inside Wandsworth Prison

It is expected to be the biggest shake up of the prison system in decades. Tomorrow the government will reveal the outcome of the independent review into sentencing - rethinking who goes to prison, what for and who can be punished out in the community. The aim - to release pressure on prisons bursting at the seams, rife with violence and drugs. We report on HMP Wandsworth, described as a symbol of "the worst of the system". It has already been given £100 million of extra funding - but for inmates, families and campaigners, change isn't coming quickly enough.
