I went on a two-day, one-night trip to Hakodate, Hokkaido, in the winter. I ate some delicious food and thoroughly enjoyed myself, so I've put together a two-day plan. Please take a look! A food tour ✨ I'll also introduce some highly recommended hotels 👍 *Sorry, I misspelled a few things. Visited in mid-February. I took the first morning flight from Haneda to Hakodate. At Hakodate Airport, the bus stop is right in front of the hotel, so it costs 500 yen to get from Hakodate Airport to Hakodate Station. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Hakodate Station. 00:35 Recommended Hotel in Hakodate, Hokkaido 📍OMO5 Hakodate by Hoshino Resorts Located about a five-minute walk from Hakodate Station, OMO Hakodate, a new spot opened less than a year ago, is operated by Hoshino Resorts. I was invited to stay there! Located in an easily accessible location, it's the perfect base for sightseeing in Hakodate. The free space on the second floor, available to guests, sells souvenirs and food, and offers ample space for relaxation. Not only is the location great, but the facility itself is also very clean and comfortable. Speaking of OMO, I've stayed there several times in the past, and one of the highlights is the neighborhood tour, guided by staff members known as OMO Rangers! I participated in a tour that allowed me to fully enjoy Hakodate's markets. There are many different tours available, so be sure to try one! OMO5 Hakodate is also the first OMO hotel in Japan to feature an onsen. The amber-colored water is incredibly refreshing, flowing directly from the source. What's even better is that it has two saunas, a dry sauna and a mist sauna, and even a cold bath, which is truly amazing. But that's not all OMO is appealing. They offer a comprehensive bus service called the Hakodate Guru Guru Free Pass, which guests can use for free. I was incredibly grateful for this. Thanks to this bus, I was able to visit Hakodate's main attractions for free, without having to take a train or taxi. It was incredibly convenient. The breakfast was also incredibly luxurious and not to be missed! The seafood bowl, where you can top your favorite ingredients, was especially delicious. 😿 In addition to the seafood bowls, there was also a grilled food corner and a salt ramen corner. They had all the seasonal foods of Hakodate, Hokkaido, so I ate a lot in the morning! You can also leave your luggage in the lockers before and after check-out. This hotel is highly recommended for sightseeing in Hakodate. ✨ 02:28 Hakodate, Hokkaido: Recommended Food 📍 Murakami This restaurant is famous for its sea urchin bowl. Apparently, it's usually so long you can't even make a reservation. 02:57 Hakodate, Hokkaido: Recommended Food 📍 Otori A long-established ramen restaurant. Hakodate is the birthplace of shio ramen, so I definitely wanted to try it! In addition to ramen, fried pork called zariji is also a Hakodate specialty. It was incredibly chewy and delicious. 04:56 Hakodate, Hokkaido Recommended Spot 📍 Mt. Hakodate Ropeway I went to Mt. Hakodate to see the million-dollar night view. The round-trip ropeway fare is about 1800 yen. There's a cafe where you can enjoy the view, but it was incredibly crowded, so you might have to wait a bit. It's quite cold, so I recommend bringing warm clothes. 06:22 Hakodate, Hokkaido Recommended Gourmet 📍 Hasegawa Store I went to Hasegawa Store, famous for its yakitori bento. They also had cute original merchandise for sale. 08:10 Hakodate, Hokkaido Recommended Gourmet 📍 Daikokuya A Genghis Khan restaurant. Originally a restaurant in Asahikawa, they recently opened a branch in Tokyo. They're particular about the meat, of course, but also the rice. The white rice was delicious, so I highly recommend ordering it. They apparently use chilled meat, not frozen, so it's odorless, really tasty, and easy to eat. 09:42 Hakodate, Hokkaido Recommended Spot 📍 Seicomart Secomart, also known as Secoma, is located mainly in Hokkaido. It has a wide selection of original food and drinks that you don't often see in Tokyo convenience stores, so just going there was fun. 12:24 Hakodate Recommended Spot 📍 Red Brick Warehouse Right near the sea, it's a row of buildings with many shops. It's also a great place to shop for Hokkaido specialties. 13:09 Hakodate Recommended Gourmet 📍 Lucky Pierrot A very popular family restaurant in Hakodate. A very popular spot with quite a few locations in the Hakodate area. There are two locations in the Bay Area, and they sell a lot of goods and souvenirs. I recommend shopping there too! The curry was delicious! Around 11:30, it started to get incredibly crowded, so it might be best to go early. I ordered the popular sesame shake and a vanilla one. The curry and hamburger were delicious, as expected. 2:31 PM: Goryokaku Tower, a recommended spot in Hakodate, Hokkaido. I love the manga Golden Kamuy, so I wanted to go see it.
