Police concluded that the young woman committed suicide on May 26, 2023, but her mother, Heleneide Bento Carvalho, disputes this version and accuses her sister, Francisca Helena, of having financial interests in the case. According to Heleneide, Victória, who had a history of substance abuse, was involuntarily admitted to the Florescer Clinic by her aunt. Francisca denied the accusations and presented audio recordings where her niece requested her own admission. Furthermore, she stated that the mother-daughter relationship was marked by neglect. Eight months after her admission, Victória was found dead in the bathroom of the women's unit. According to the police, she was unconscious and had been hanged with a scarf that was tied to the shower stall. Forensic reports indicated asphyxiation by hanging and suggested suicide. Heleneide received the test results with concern and noticed inconsistencies in the body even during her daughter's wake. Initially, the Public Prosecutor's Office closed the case, but the young woman's mother did not give up trying to prove the truth. The discovery of a life insurance policy in Victória's name, with Francisca Helena as the beneficiary, increased suspicions of a possible crime.
