The "Deer Horn" Guitar: A Yamaha F-310 Acoustic Guitar I was asked to repair.

The Story of "Deer Horn" 🦌🎸 A few weeks ago, a young man reached out to me on Facebook Marketplace about repairing a guitar that belonged to his father. When we met up to evaluate the damage, I heard a "clunk" noise coming through the soundhole and the young man told me something completely unexpected. What was rattling around inside: a real deer horn. Right then and there, this guitar earned its name! I brought "Deer Horn" back to the shop for a massive two-and-a-half-week revival. This instrument needed a lot of love, patience, and woodwork to breathe again. Here is a breakdown of the restoration process: Glued loose sections of both the top and bottom plates back to the sides. Repaired a structural crack running across the back of the neck. Installed brand new, matching tuning machines to replace the old and missing ones. Hand-shaped and installed a brand-new bone nut. Sourced and installed three missing bridge pins. Conditioned the dry fretboard and body using Howard's Feed-N-Wax to bring back the wood's natural shine. Strung it up with a fresh set of D'Addario strings.
