In this video, I take a quiet solo trip to Tokashiki Island, part of the Kerama island chain in Okinawa. Just one hour from Naha by ferry, it’s a peaceful escape with clear waters ans sea turtle. As you can take the ferry from Tomari port which is walkable from city center, it's a perfect destination for travelers without a car. Reservation: https://www.vill.zamami.okinawa.jp 🐢 The turtle I saw is most likely a green sea turtle (known as honu in Hawaiian).Two types live in this area: the green sea turtle (ao-umigame) and the loggerhead (aka-umigame).The loggerhead nests only on Japanese shores, then travels all the way across the Pacific to California, passing Hawaii before returning to Japan—a mysterious migratory pattern found nowhere else in the North Pacific.
