This time, we take a journey on one of the cooler elevated lines and a fun route. The (2) Line is unique in that it is one of the longer routes in the system and it has the northernmost station in the entire system. The Nostrand Av Line that the (2) (5) Lines use is unique because it is the only line that has no island platform for its terminal. Originally, the Nostrand Av Line was supposed to be extended to Sheepshead Bay, but it couldn’t take place because of funding issues. The Nostrand Av Line is also the only line that has a terminal station at a college, that being Brooklyn College. At Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College, all (2) trains start on Track 3 and all (5) trains start on Track 2. Despite (2) and (5) trains being completely different routes and having different train crews, (2) and (5) trains sometimes terminate on opposite tracks [(2) trains can sometimes terminate on Track 2 and become a (5) train and sometimes (5) trains can terminate on Track 3 and become a (2) train]. As mentioned on my run on the (5) train, (2) and (5) trains share their cars together despite the (5) being based at Unionport Yard and the (2) being based at 239th St Yard, but they sometimes utilize both yards, which is why the strip map on the cars assigned to the (2) and (5) Lines are combined together. The strip map was installed in 2016. But this route is fun to ride on any day and it offers cool sights of the skyline with the (5) and other cool sights.
