God Shows No Partiality | Beyond the Walls Late Edition | June 14 2026
Are we missing the gifts of the Spirit in people we still quietly judge, even while saying they are welcome at the table? Can the church honour its identity and traditions without turning them into barriers to full participation? Jesus and all the original apostles followed Mosaic purity law, including avoiding eating foods prescribed as “unclean.” Maintaining ritual purity prevented sharing meals with people from the nations outside the house of Israel (the “gentiles”). In the Book of Acts, this changes when the Apostle Peter travels to the city of Joppa on the Mediterranean coast and has a vision in which he is commanded to eat animals the Law called “unclean.” Ultimately, Peter realizes that God is the creator of everything and does not consider any animals or plants unclean. This realization extends further with the insight that “God Shows No Partiality.” That is, God has not chosen any one race or ethnic group to privilege but is the God of all — that sacred community is to be radically inclusive. We invite you to share this hour of reflection, prayer, meditation, music, and fellowship with the Beyond the Walls global community on 📅 Sunday, June 14, 2026. You can participate via live video as usual or join us in person at: 💒 888 Byron Ave, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K2A 0J1. This year we are focusing on witnesses of God’s revelation beyond the four canonical gospels, including the letters of Paul, Hebrews, and the letters attributed to James, Peter, Jude, and John. We will also read Acts, Revelation, and some important early Christian texts that were not included in the canon: the Didache (or Teachings of the Twelve Apostles), the sayings Gospel of Thomas, and the Gospel of Mary (Magdalene). 📖 Full worship bulletin: https://www.centreplace.ca/bulletin 🎵 All music performed by the Beyond the Walls Choir and @MichaelKarpowicz.
