In 1978, just one year later, a youth movement emerged that had a profound impact on the rock scene that followed. In an era before smartphones and social media, these young people sought to deliver their own music themselves. They created their own songs, recording studios, and records, blazing a new trail and shaking up the music industry with their DIY spirit. They invented the indie style in a world dominated by major labels, launched their own label, introduced all-standing venues to live shows where seating was the norm, and held rock festivals bringing together countless bands. It wasn't charismatic figures or stars who laid the foundations for a culture that's now commonplace—simply young people who pushed forward, believing in their own expression. The spark they left behind has endured, having an immeasurable impact on Japan's music scene. Author Yuichi Jibiki has documented this otherworldly music scene, brimming with freedom and raw energy, in his book "Street Kingdom." This time, footage of eight unique characters has been released, including main cast members Yuichi (Mineta Kazunobu), Momo (Wakaba Tatsuya), Sachi (Yoshioka Riho), Michiwo (Nakano Taiga), and DEEP (Mamiya Shotaro), as well as photos of the four bands that appear in the film: TOKAGE, Riri, Dissection Room, and Robotomeia.
