Italian verbs are grouped into three conjugations (-are, -ere, -ire). In this video you’ll learn how to conjugate the regular verbs of the first two in the present tense (-are, -ere). All regular verbs ending in “-are” have the same endings: -o, -i, -a, -iamo, -ate, -ano E.g. guardare (= to watch): (io) guardo, (tu) guardi, (lui, lei, Lei) guarda, (noi) guardiamo, (voi) guardate, (loro) guardano. Pay attention to the verbs ending in “-care” and “-gare”: you need to add an “h” in “tu” and “noi” (e.g. tu giochi, noi giochiamo). All regular verbs ending in “-ere” have the same endings: -o, -i, -e, -iamo, -ete, -ono. E.g. prendere (= to take): (io) prendo, (tu) prendi, (lui, lei, Lei) prende, (noi) prendiamo, (voi) prendete, (loro) prendono. Remember that, except in specific cases, we don’t use the pronoun with the verb since every subject has a different ending (we say “guardo”, not “io guardo”). You can also use our videos to learn new vocabulary. Write down the words as you see them to build your vocabulary. Ciao!
