We'll discuss this today. Chlorosis can be caused by a nutrient deficiency in the soil. However, a nutrient deficiency sometimes doesn't necessarily mean there aren't enough macro- or micronutrients in the soil; sometimes, the plant is simply unable to absorb them. This can happen when the soil pH is high or low. ⠀ If chlorosis is caused by alkalinity of the soil and the plant's inability to absorb nutrients, primarily iron and nitrogen, I recommend watering the roots with a solution of citric acid and water (1 teaspoon per 10 liters of water). If this helps after a couple of days, then this is the cause. ⠀ This also applies to severely overwatered soil, where the soil is too dense and retains water. ⠀ Chlorosis can also be caused by severe root damage or too little space for root development. ⠀ If your plants have chlorosis caused by a lack of nutrients in the soil, then use the following as a guide: ⠀ ☀️If the leaves turn yellow or lighten between the veins. Starting with the leaflets at the tips of the shoots (on the upper young leaves). They are lacking iron. To correct the deficiency, use non-iron supplements. ⠀ ☀️Magnesium deficiency. Yellowing between the veins, starting with the lower (older) leaves, then spreading upward to the younger ones. Magnesium sulfate. ⠀ ☀️Zinc deficiency. It starts in the same way as magnesium deficiency: in the lower (older) leaves, the interveinal space turns yellow. Zinc sulfate. ⠀ ☀️If the veins of young (upper) leaves turn lighter or yellow, and then the entire leaf blade, this indicates sulfur deficiency. Ammonium sulfate. ⠀ ☀️With nitrogen deficiency, the veins on the lower (older) leaves begin to lighten first, then the discoloration affects the entire leaf blade. The lower leaves wilt and fall off.
