The head is wider than a razor blade, unlike most razors, which are the same size if not smaller. The excellent cutting sensation on the first pass, which removed a week's worth of beard without clogging, despite the modest gap—thanks to the presence of two generous openings under the base—is unfortunately compromised by the fact that when cutting against the grain, where I usually switch sides, I found a different, less pronounced gap, making the cut almost ineffective. Then, when I tried using the first stroke, the feeling of going against the grain was so annoying that I needed another razor to finish the shave.
