Backtracking With A Compass (MikeOut E4)
Presenting a simple method to backtrack a set of "waypoints" with nothing but a compass, a notebook and a pencil. Sometimes you just want to quickly head off-track, take a detour, explore the surroundings or just want to get back home, to camp, to the trail head, etc. Perhaps you don't have a map, perhaps you do, regardless - backtracking with nothing but a compass may be more useful than you think. A skilled compass user is also usually faster than someone using a GPS.
