Today I encountered a book, but also its author. The book is "Blessed Giovanni Liccio, Dominican of Caccamo, the Preacher of Sicily," marking the sixth centenary of his birth, April 16, 1426–2026. Written with heart by Father Giovanni Calcara, a Dominican friar born in Caccamo but resident in Palermo, he wrote from the heart. Today, speaking of Blessed Giovanni Liccio means speaking of Caccamo. It means walking its streets, listening to the voices passed down from generation to generation, entering the homes where his name has been spoken for centuries with affection, devotion, and trust.
