The shop's mechanic had already tried to resolve the problem, but without success. It was time to bring in an expert. Let's find out what was really going on with this Hilux. Decoding the Diagnostic Data The go-to tool for this job was the "Launch X431 Euro" diagnostic scanner from www.launchtech.co.uk Connected to the Hilux, The odometer showed approximately 40,000 miles. Error Code Unveiled: P2458-00 can be accompanied with P2463-00 The diagnostic scan revealed a crucial error code: P2458. This code indicates a problem with the "Particulate Filter Regeneration Duration." The DPF wasn't regenerating as it should. Why wasn't the DPF regenerating? Several factors can cause this. Excessive idling, stop-and-go traffic, or short trips can prevent the DPF from reaching the temperature needed for regeneration. The Hilux even has a manual regeneration button. Drivers are supposed to press it when the DPF reaches a certain level of blockage. But clearly, that hadn't happened. Live Data Examination To understand the problem better, live data was examined. The engine's idle RPM (revolutions per minute) hovered around 600. This data helps determine if the engine is running correctly.
