Yakuza 2 Any% Speedrun in 2:08:27 [WR]

Offline run so unfortunately no commentary. Still, feel free to follow me on twitch:   / bignono   The 2:08:xx grind in this game was probably the biggest test of my speedrunning career. This was a long, difficult, at times very frustrating and soul-crushing grind. But we kept pushing, and here are the results - not just a 2:08:xx but even a sub 2:08:30. What a rush and relief to finally get this. And yes, in case you're wondering - I do believe 2:07:xx is possible. But I am definitely staying far far away from this game for a good long time, unless I get a really good reason to come back to it soon. This time is very good and hard fought, and I am exceptionally proud that I persevered long enough to get it. In terms of individual splits, the run is exceptionally solid up until chapter 8. I would even say that chapter was very good, despite a hiccup in the Hayashi fight that cost a fair bit of time - luckily, my backup worked about as well as it can under the conditions. From then on the run is decent, but since I was going up against a really good mid-late game, I kept bleeding time until chapter 14, and even in that split, the time save isn't all it could have been. Honestly, even the finale felt like it wasn't perfect - I can definitely gold it by more - but it was definitely a good one. All in all, can't say there's a single super bad split in this run. Closest would be chapter 12, where nothing went all that well, but no disasters happened. Will definitely be tough to go up against this - luckily, I have no intention of doing so anytime soon!
