Milestones Matter: What to Watch For and Where to Turn for Support

Speakers: Dr. Usha Ramachandran, MD, FAAP Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Deepa Srinivasavaradan, IMH-E® SPAN Parent Advocacy Network Karnesha Slaughter, MPH Health Communication Specialist, Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Join this session to learn from a speaker from the CDC and a Pediatrician about developmental milestones from birth to age three, early signs of possible delays, and how parents can bring concerns to their pediatrician, including helpful questions to ask and what information to share. They will also share simple, everyday ways families can support development at home through play, routines, talking, reading, and daily interactions. Participants will be introduced to the CDC Milestone Tracker and other helpful family resources. The session will wrap up with a brief overview of the New Jersey Early Intervention System, including how families can make a referral, what the process looks like, and how to connect for an evaluation and services.
