Hand spinning of ginned organic cotton fiber- KORA / S F / Parivartan
Mark has sent some ginned organic cotton to try the fiber spinning on traditional "desi Charkha". The fiber was given to our spinner Indravati Devi to spin yarn on her Charkha. This a a video that shows our journey to the village, Santhu and indravati devi's home and her experience to deal with the fiber till it is made in to hank. It is Kora initiative. The work is done in a cluster set up in Santu Village for Srijani Foundation, Patna; supported by Parivartan, Narendrapur, Bihar. This video is shot with a phone camera in an hours time. We tried to capture experience of hand spinning not just as livelihood but as as fun of exploring new material, getting command over it after some practice and achieve all possibilities.
