The beginning of this house was simple. A desire to live while gazing at the forest. They desired an everyday life permeated by light, wind, and nature, rather than extravagance. The sloping site, with a height difference of approximately 3 meters, was not a disadvantage but became the story that unfolds within the house. The 'Staircase Garden,' which passes beneath the building to ascend to the courtyard, is a transitional space that crosses from daily life into nature. The living room on the first floor opens wide toward the forest, while the family room on the second floor quietly gazes at the forest beneath the sloping roof. The two floors capture the same nature with different sensibilities. A good home might not have to be something grand. Feeling where the light comes in every morning, and family members roaming the house in their own ways. A place where such days accumulate—that is Oreumtteul.
