Two 24-year-old Neapolitans, Antonio and Maurizio Musto, are under house arrest after an operation by the Bologna Carabinieri for a series of 14 scams targeting elderly people carried out in 2017. The ploy is always the same: from Naples, a fake marshal and a fake lawyer call the victim, saying that their child or grandchild has been involved in an accident and that bail needs to be paid to avoid arrest. Shortly thereafter, an emissary (in this case the Musto brothers) shows up at the elderly woman's home to collect the money. The sum demanded is generally between €2,000 and €2,500.
