→ Here, life is different from the reality that governs the country. In this part of Cuba, people are practically not seen on the street. While there are blackouts throughout the country, here they have a privileged situation because it is a town full of hotels and destined for tourism, although now, in total decline, like the rest of the country. Just like in other provinces, people are poor. We have seen this on our tour of Topes de Collantes and in an upcoming video we will enter the neighborhoods where people live. In this video, however, we will go to one of the waterfalls: the Salto del Caburní. If we can get in, that is another thing, the water is usually very cold and for us Cubans it is not usual, perhaps for those who live in Europe the temperature can be paradisiacal. There are things that do not appear in the documentaries and promotional videos of Cuba, a real life that every Cuban has had to live and only we know about it. The shortcomings corrode our society at unsuspected levels, leading to corruption, crime, envy and other evils that have affected us for a long time. We want our children to be better than us; however, many times our families end up broken as a result of emigration to the USA and other countries. Our children risk their lives to have a better future. The rationing of products available for sale has made it more difficult to live in Cuba and just to be able to afford food in the markets and stores. Havana feels it as it is dependent on tourism but now there is no tourism and almost no trips to Cuba. The other provinces feel it even more. The socioeconomic class difference is accentuated and those who do not receive remittances from abroad have a harder time making ends meet.
