Just Grooming -- Feb. 27, 2019

Bow concentrates so hard when he is grooming my fingers. People keep asking me if I reciprocate and groom him as well. I do many things for Bow, but I don't groom him the way he does me. I also never ask Bow to groom me. It's always his idea, and he only does it when he wants to. Also, when he is done, he's done. I thin so many people pay other people to groom them -- the barber, the hair stylist, the dental hygienist -- they are all basically professional groomers. And because we pay to have that done, we tend to assume that it is not an enjoyable experience for the person giving the grooming, only the person receiving the grooming. But Bow is neither paid for grooming nor compelled to do it. He does it because he enjoys it. Reciprocity is so overrated. People would be so much happier if they jus followed their instincts and their inborn desires.
