"Kenapa UU penting bisa ditunda?" - On Patriarchy

This video is a bit long (sorry!) because we discuss three things: 00:00 - Intro 01:30 - 1. What is patriarchy 07:40 - 2. What is the PKS Bill and why is it important? 11:25 - 3. What is the use of science in lawmaking in Indonesia, using the PKS Bill as an example? Can we imagine a condition where men are considered only fit to do certain things or can be treated in a certain way? From childhood to adulthood, men are regulated in their clothes, their way of walking, their actions. Maybe even men are objectified, given various labels based on whether they are married, divorced, or fulfilling their other social roles. Public spaces also do not provide opportunities for them to have a voice. For every 1 conversation about men's 'rights', there are 10 conversations about men's obligations. Then, when men are angry because they are discriminated against, they are called names that delegitimize their anger. Despite the shocking data on unfair treatment of men, lawmakers in the House of Representatives feel that this is not an urgent issue and is 'difficult to discuss'. For them, this discussion is something that can be postponed. After all, for hundreds of years everything was fine. Men should regulate the way they dress and behave, so that they are not oppressed, right? #KnowledgeInitiative ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Frame & Sentences is a series of video essays made by Wikan & Afu to talk about issues that matter to them.] [Frame & Sentences is a series of video essays made by Wikan & Afu to talk about issues that matter to them.] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Greet us on social media!
