The Way to Water * Community Voices from Landi (#1)

I was traveling in Landi, Kenya. This is where Gabriel lives. He is 53 years old and grew up in extreme poverty. After twenty years in the big city, where he earned his living among other things as an IT consultant, he decided in 2022 to return to his home region of Taita-Taveta County. Since then, he has been working to make his dream of a better future for the people a reality. He founded a school and has been steadily expanding it ever since. Recently, the school gained access to a functioning water supply — a “quantum leap” for the community, as he calls it. In Part #1, Gabriel and I talk about how the project was implemented and show the impact water has on life in Landi. We visit families in their homes and, along the way, learn a great deal about Kenya. Hier lebt Gabriel, 53 Jahre alt, aufgewachsen in ärmsten Verhältnissen. Nach zwanzig Jahren in der Großstadt, wo er sein Geld u.a. als IT-Berater verdiente, beschloss er 2022 in seine Heimatregion Taita-Taveta County zurückzukehren. Hier verwirklicht er seitdem seinen Traum von einer besseren Zukunft für die Menschen. Er gründete eine Schule und baut sie seitdem konsequent aus. Seit kurzem hat sie eine funktionierende Wasserversorgung, Dies sei ein "Quantensprung", für die Gemeinde sagt er. In Teil #1 sprechen Gabriel und ich über die Umsetzung des Projektes und zeigen, welche Auswirkungen Wasser auf das Leben in Landi hat.
