HK URBEX: 'The White House' redux //「白屋」加強版

​May 12th, 2017 Before Hong Kong's handover in 1997, 'Special Branch' was a secret intelligence agency. Victoria Road Detention Centre was the organisation's only dedicated building. It was nicknamed the 'White House' due to its unassuming white exterior. It detained spies, political prisoners, particularly those who participated in the 1967 leftist riots. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the riots that paralysed Hong Kong and left over 50 dead. In 2013, the government approved a plan to allow the Booth School of Business to build their new campus over the site. Construction began in 2016 and is expected to be completed in August 2018.
