Support me on Patreon - / polyusstudios Built to Royal Canadian Air Force specifications, the Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck was Canada’s only domestically designed jet fighter to enter frontline service. Developed in 1946 as a long-range, twin-engine interceptor to counter Soviet nuclear bomber threats, it featured advanced X-band radar and heavy armament, including machine guns and folding-fin rocket salvos. As a premier all-weather night fighter, the Canuck served extensively with NORAD and NATO, providing vital zero-visibility interception capabilities throughout the Cold War. A total of 692 aircraft were produced before its replacement by the CF-101 Voodoo in 1962, though electronic warfare variants served until 1981.
