In this video, I try to explore Mumbai Muharram’s preparation for this year, especially after two tough years of Pandemic. The non stop flow of emotions and the passion to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) & his 72 friends and relatives in the Battle of Karbala at the hands of Yazid’s army. Mira Road, western suburban town in Mumbai-Thane, is turning out to be the second biggest centre after South Mumbai’s Dongri-Mughal Masjid Area for Azadari. Hordes of Shia Muslims who live in this area carry out different activities in Muharram. From poor to wealthy, everyone participates actively. Here I try to capture the concept of Sabeel and history of the newly built Mira Road Town, once a salt pan field, and how Muharram is commemorated there.
