Elk Grove Village Green Dedication 1998

On September 12th 1998, the area located on Wellington Avenue between the Municipal Complex and the Elk Grove Public Library was officially dedicated as the “Village Green”. This area and the adjacent “Town center” were developed after the demolition of the deteriorating Grove Shopping Center in 1997. Since then, the Village Green has been a central hub for community gatherings like the summer concerts and the tree lighting ceremony. As you watch this dedication, you may notice that some favorite features like the splash pad, heart sculpture and the clock tower weren’t part of the Village Green just yet. These things were added much later making the Village Green an even more appealing place to visit throughout the year.
