We start by exploring a popular Catan stats site that claims to show what actually wins games. Some of the insights are genuinely helpful, especially for newer players. Some of them feel a little too surface level to hold up at high level play. So we put it to the test. We pull up two full game replays from the top ranked player and study what actually happens in real competitive games. The goal is to see where common advice holds up, where it falls apart, and what patterns show up when the stakes are real.
