Mont Saint Michel travel guide: prices, free entry days and a secret free parking spot

Hey hey! I arrived at Mont Saint Michel at 6:30 in the morning and honestly that was the best decision I made all trip. Empty streets, sunrise behind me and one of the most beautiful places in France all to myself. This is my third time here and it never gets old. In this video I show you the real Mont Saint Michel. Not the tourist version. Everything you actually need to know before you come here, including a free parking spot I share at the end that most people have no idea about. The shuttle bus is free and included in your parking fee. Low season (January to February and November to December): around 6 euros per 24 hours Mid season (March to June and September to November): around 10 euros per 24 hours High season (July and August): higher rates apply, no free time slots Good news: parking is free from 6:30pm to 3:00am in low and mid season Bicycles park for free all year FREE PARKING TIP (stay until the end of the video): there is a free spot called Aire de Pique-Pique MsM. Park there for free and walk or hike to the Mont. It is a longer walk but it is beautiful and costs you nothing. ABBEY CHURCH PRICES AND OPENING HOURS: Adult entry: 13 euros Free for children under 18 and EU citizens aged 18 to 25 Open May to August: 9am to 7pm (last entry 6pm) Open September to April: 9:30am to 6pm (last entry 5pm) HOW TO GET IN FOR FREE: The abbey is free for everyone on the first Sunday of each month from November to March The third weekend of September is also free for everyone Jobseekers get in free with a certificate less than 6 months old and an ID If you take the SNCF Nomad train from Paris directly to Mont Saint Michel you get a discounted ticket of 13 euros instead of the full price Always go to the ticket office and show your document to get the free ticket THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE: Go as early as possible. The streets are empty and it is a completely different experience. Wear comfortable shoes. There are a lot of stairs and cobblestones everywhere. Bring your own water. It is cheaper and the restaurants on the island are expensive. If it is sunny bring a hat and sunscreen. There is not much shade. The village and all the streets are completely free to walk. Only the abbey costs money. When the tides come in, the whole mount is surrounded by water and it looks like a floating island. Check the tide times before you go. There are hotels on the island if you want to stay overnight. There are only about 50 permanent residents living there. ROOKIE MISTAKE: Going in the middle of the day in summer. The place is packed, the streets are impossible and you will be miserable. Go early morning or late afternoon. You will thank me. NEXT VIDEO: I am going to Etretat and a beach nearby.
